CAD Mechanical Production Team Leader ~ Bristol

Our client is a leading Engineering Services business.

As a CAD Mechanical Production Team Leader, you will deliver, and maintain best practice methods within the CAD Department, ensuring standard products are productionised to the highest standards, while ensuring office based mechanical and electrical designs are linked seamlessly into the production facility.

What you'll be doing:

  • Overseeing the CAD process for production, ensuring best practice process is adhered to
  • Introduce new best practice process where appropriate to maintain the best efficiencies within the workshop whilst maintaining the best standards.
  • Leading a small team of both mechanical production CAD and electrical to ensure all projects align between both areas and are prioritised correctly.
  • Guide and mentor a junior team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development
  • Conduct production design reviews and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Create component CAD 3D part models.
  • Create accurate 3D assembly models and manufacturing instruction drawings in line with our latest CAD production processes.
  • Creating bills of materials, maintaining part codes and BOM structures within our internal software
  • Continual improvement within system maintenance and links with CAD software.
  • Understand the overall design and production process – What we are doing and why?
  • Continuously strive to improve quality, CAD designs both mechanically and electrically, bills of materials and production – Working closely to all departments to ensure the absolute best results.
  • Create accurate bill of materials within CAD and transferring to internal MRP system
  • Understanding change control and documentation.
  • Continual review of production processes and design to ensure best efficiencies.
  • Continual review of supply chain products and new offerings
  • Look to implement standard product catalogues for commercial and marketing teams.
  • Work closely with other technical departments to obtain set targets.
  • Attend tier meetings.
  • Consulting with suppliers and ensuring we receive the best value and quality.
  • Provide regular progress updates and managing time efficiently.
  • Ensuring all projects closed on time and to the highest standard.

Ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, advantage, but not essential.
  • Experience in CAD production design office
  • Experience of drawing and documentation controls and production processes to ensure continual.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Inventor) and other relevant design tools
  • Leadership capability, with the ability to motivate a small team towards common goals.
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a challenging environment and manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • A values driven approach
