Our client, a large scale service provider, are looking to recruit a Combustion Service Engineer to join their London-based team.

Salary: £50-55,000 + Van
Hours: Mon-Fri, 08:00-17:00
Callout and standby fees payable in addition to basic salary
Overtime available

Overview:

The Combustion Service Engineer will undertake skilled tasks in a competent and professional manner and ensure delivery in a timely and financially controlled fashion to meet relevant planned maintenance programmes and timelines, reactive works / remedial and other required SLA’s as directed by the Client and line manager/s. The works should be carried out to meet or exceed the Client’s expectations and in accordance with policies, procedures and relevant H&S and statutory requirements. The Combustion Service Engineer will submit both written and electronic soft copy documentation to a high standard and verbally comminute all relevant issues in clear and objective views to the Client & line management. The Combustion Service Engineer should be able to gain and compile all permits in line with Safe Systems of Work. The Combustion Service Engineer will be responsible for carrying out all works and expectation that are deemed appropriate by their line Supervisors, and provide daily updates to supervisors and the service manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing first line reactive response to critical Heating and Hot water plant, INCLUDING GAS PIPEWORK outside of normal business hours if necessary.
  • Competent to enable and reset critical plant following power outage and interruption of services and leave in safe and good working order.
  • Ensure company issued tools are PAT tested, certificated and logged with the office
  • Ensure specialist meters are certificated and up to date with legislation and compliance / technical & industry requirements. 5. Skill in estimating time and materials and construction of quotations in support of the Client Supervisor by providing details of parts and works required
  • Assist with local financial control on all re-active and essential repairs through good working practices and working with the Client Supervisor in this area
  • Monitoring and booking of spares and materials on a job-to-job works order to guarantee financial control and timelines quoted are adhered to
  • Overview and upkeep of site logbooks and Gas Safe records in support of the Client Supervisor
  • Ensuring reactive calls and service delivery is arranged for the client in support of service desk
  • Read and Understand risk assessments and method statements before the works are due to be started and understand the full scope of the SSOW.
  • Monitoring and recording of plant information and escalation of issues found
  • Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC/Gas equipment.
  • Knowledge of budgetary practices and principles to assist the Client Supervisor in controlling jobs expenditures.
  • Skill in operation, installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC/Gas equipment.
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication to office, engineers and customer base.
  • Skill in applying Engineering techniques to required british standards in all areas.
  • Look to improve and enhance existing engineering and technical scope, improve plant and service performance and energy efficiencies through innovation recommendation and a pro-active approach.
Competencies:
•Qualified Gas engineer competent to work with electrical services and having sufficient knowledge and experience to work safely and on their own initiative, within a technically advanced and operationally demanding environment.
•The Combustion Service Engineer should be skilled in performing PPM and reactive repairs, working alone or within a small team as required.
•Ability to make safe isolations to adhere to legislation
•Carry out gas testing AND PURGING in accordance with IGE REGULATIONS AND BRITISH STANDARDS AS APPLICABLE
•Repair or replace, pipe-work, valves, strainers, actuators, humidifiers, fan decks, integral controls or equivalent etc.
•To have the ability to understand and read electrical circuit diagrams to perform fault finding and corrective repairs without supervision.
•Ability to complete suitable risk assessments and method statements and job cards.
•Ability to understand performance requirements of critical services plant to determine if equipment is operating within KPI and performance scope.



Skills/Qualifications:

•Excellent working knowledge of Gas Appliances and combustion. Also any related associated plant, such as Fans, controls, pumps, pipework, etc
•Current ACS Certification, covering core safety, indirect fired appliance and pipework as a minimum
•Good basic education to include an English and Maths qualification
•City and Guilds or equivalent in Plumbing and heating,
•Sound fault finding skills on all forms of Gas Appliances and systems, Experience in a similar role, working with Gas plant
