My client have been successfully manufacturing for years in Birmingham and manufacturer specialist metals including Ingot, slab, coil, bar, sheet and more. They supply mainly into the Aerospace industry amongst other industrial sectors. The types of machines you will be working on a day to day basis will be large industrial machines such as die-presses, vacuum/arc furnaces, plasma welders, machine shop including lathes/millers/turners as well as other machinery associated with the heavy industry. Good hydraulic experience is required for this position. you will also be working with conveyors, cylinders, gearboxes and more. Fabricating experience is advantageous for this position.

Experience required for the mechanical maintenance engineer:

  • 5 + years experience working as a mechanical maintenance engineer ideally within heavy industry 
  • Ideally level 3 and apprenticeship served but would also look at level 2 if experience is within a similar environment
  • MUST have experience with hydraulics, gearboxes, conveyor, cylinders
  • ideally be able to fabricate/weld for the mechanical maintenance engineer
