Assistant Shift Team Leader – Power Station

MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for Assistant Shift Team leader to join the operations department of an energy from waste power station in Dundee, Scotland.

The Assistant Shift Team Leader will be responsible the safe and efficient of the plant from the control room via a DCS ensuring the site meets its operational targets in a safe and efficient manner.

As a Assistant Shift Team leader, you will be responsible for:

• Starting, stopping, and monitoring boilers, steam turbines, pumps, water treatment plant and heat exchangers via a DCS
• Performing basic first line maintenance tasks and reporting any defects to the Shift Team Leader as required
• Assisting with shutdown activities within the plant ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum
• Monitoring pressure, temperatures, flow rates around the facility making appropriate operational adjustments when needed in line with the sites environmental permit
• Operating mobile plant and the overhead crane when required
• Carrying out all activities with the highest regard for health and safety

To be considered for this role you should have:

• Operational experience gained in a heavy process environment that involves the generation of high-pressure steam e.g. power generation, chemical, refinery, CHP etc
• Merchant and Royal Navy Engineers with significant watchkeeping experience will be considered
• Ideally a relevant engineering qualification such as NVQ/HNC/BTEC, apprenticeship etc
• Previous hands-on maintenance skills would be desirable
• A flexible approach to working routines and willingness to work on a shift pattern that involves 12-hour shifts
